There it is: The castle which Walt Disney fell in love with (or at least decided he could get rich copying). From the Alps of Bavaria to the hearts of fantasy-lovers all over the world, by way of a man who became known because of his ability to bring life to an imaginary talking mouse! Some people say that these are not real castles. It is true that they came many years after the days of the knights. This is also an extremely touristy place, so it is not like experiencing "off the road" Bavaria. It is still a very memorable excursion, however, with a lot of history, intrigue, and mystery. There is a lot I left out about the shaping of modern-day Bavaria, how the French were involved, Ludwig's communication with Bismark through his whole ordeal, etc., but much important German history -- European history -- albeit fairly recent history, unfolded within the walls of these 2 castles and on these very grounds. And who knows, maybe the Holy Grail is somewhere around here, hidden under a rock or in one of the lakes? In fact, now that you have been exposed to the lands of the legendary Keepers of the Grail, the Knights of Schwandau, do a good deed, a random act of kindness. Make sure that you don't get caught. Keep your identity a secret. Perhaps the powers of the Grail are accessible and ours if we just let them be.
