ABOVE THE CLOUDS SCULPTURE
"The highest goodness is like water; water brings life and benefits to all kinds of things without demanding anything in return. Clouds are not only the sublimation of water, but also symbolise a transformation of values. At first glance, it seems like the relationship between water and cloud is negative, but actually they form a complimentary role. The silver-coloured steel is cold and hard, and yet in its entirety the sculpture seems fluid and liquid. Solidity and movement quietly complementing each other. Different notions, yet the graceful form of the sculpture compels the viewer to contemplate the spiritual world....."

DEVON TOWER FROM BRICKTOWN
You can even take a ride through Bricktown on one of these boats. I do believe that whoever had the idea to make the dry, dusty, warehouse neighborhood of Bricktown into a sort of "little Venice" was thinking WAY outside any box. From all appearances, it has worked!
Great job, Oklahoma!CRYSTAL BRIDGE AND DEVON TOWER
The round, horizontal, cylindrical structure extends over the man-made canal and is called the Crystal Bridge. It is part of the Myriad Botanical Gardens and houses their Tropical Conservatory. For most of the time I lived in Oklahoma, the tallest OKC building (by far) was the First National Center (33 floors), which you can barely see just to your right from the Devon Tower in the distance. Devon Tower (completed in 2012) is tied with the Park Tower in Chicago for the 47th tallest building in the U.S. (at 50 floors).

The old CIA satellite eavesdropping post. Unlike current stuff in the news, this was built to listen in on Eastern Block countries (or at least that's what we are told). When the CIA pulled out, they left it, as one of the World's largest pieces of litter, to be at the whim of the ravages of time. I'm kinda torn about this kind of thing: Part of me thinks it's a shame that our government does this kind of thing and then does not clean up after itself. But, part of me enjoys being able to show this to people. I am afraid, however, that very soon it will be falling apart in ways which may endanger kids and others who may frequent this area without looking closely for signs of where NOT to go. I guess the CIA and the U.S. government in general have more pressing concerns, apparently (like keeping tabs on your phone calls and internet usage).
Prior to WWII the airport which is now referred to as Isley Field and Saipan International Airport was As Lito Field. The Japanese, as a condition for being granted Saipan by the League of Nations, had promised to never construct any developments which could be used for war. So, when they started construction of As Lito Field, they told the rest of the world that they were putting in a baseball diamond for the locals to use for sports. I guess they could have stored a lot of baseballs in here!

At 430 feet, Harbour Center is not as high as is the Seattle Space Needle (which is over 600 feet). But the view is still gorgeous over a grand city.
From VANCOUVER!
In the distance you see Harbour Center (with the round observation deck). That's where we are headed for the next series of photos.

I'm sure that Kyoto Tower, with an observation deck 328 feet above the ground, gives a great view over the city. We didn't go up into it, however. Once we got to Kyoto Station, we had our minds set more on finding out how to get to our hotel without getting totally soaked in the rain.
