From AT HOME, THEN TO SEATTLE

• All the way to Seattle now! Seattle has a remarkable library (It's my understanding that the building has won many accolades for its architecture). Join us on a brief stroll into this unique structure.

• Now maybe it's easier for your to understand the previous photo.

By the way, if you are curious about where these things are, click on the "Map This" button above the main photo here and you will get an interactive map which will allow you to click on photos and zoom in and out to explore these things to your heart's content.
• A panorama of several photos. There is some distortion (actually amazingly little, considering that the first photo was taken looking almost straight down and the last one was looking almost directly up). Taken from 8 floors up in the atrium.

• As Olga feeds her, mario rides on the back of the 550-pound bronze pig named Rachel. The unofficial mascot of Pike Market, Rachel raises $6,000 to $9,000 per year in a combination of many different world currencies. The funds are used to maintain the public market.
Nice size piggy bank.
• Hey, Mario, look to your left!
• In most cities, if people started sticking their gum on a wall lining a public walkway, city crews would clean up the mess. In Seattle, they have made a bona-fide tourist attraction out of it.
• Um, Mario, I appreciate the offer, but no thanks. Not this time. You did choose a great color, however!
• Across from the bubble gum wall.

• Now, I wonder why Mario has such a huge smile?!?!
• Ahhh. I see! He has just stepped into the very first Starbucks ever opened. Serving since 1971. From the looks of the place, I think some of their first customers may be just about to the front of the line by now......

• Waterfront fountain.
• Colorful public sculpture on the Seattle waterfront.
• Have you kissed a wolf eel today?
• Bri was having a nice day back in Chelan until it dawned on me that I had forgotten my passport. We called her and she was very kind to bring it all the way to Seattle for me. THANK-YOU, BRI.

Then we did eat at one of her favorite restaurants (one of mine, too): Pike Brewing Company. Exceptional food with some unique choices. Here you see our desserts: Dark stout beer floats with rich dark chocolate ice cream. I think all except one of us totally love the stuff.
• And the one who didn't love it was a great sport about it. I guess it didn't quite garner as many points from Olga as did Tom's balsamic vinegar on ice cream.

Anyhow, if you are going to be in Seattle,I highly recommend Pike Brewery. Web site at http://www.pikebrewing.com/index_flash.shtml
