  • T'was the evening of May 6, 2012. The moon was officially "full" at about 2:30 PM our time (so, of course, it was not visible to us when it was exactly full). Basically, the night of May 5 and that of May 6 "straddled" the moon which was supposedly the fullest, largest, and brightest of the year (which apparently earns it the name "Super Moon").

  • For May 6, I hiked to a place where I thought the moon would be spectacular as it rose. While I was waiting, I decided to take some wave photos.
  • I actually took several hundred wave shots, so herein are the ones I thought were best.
  • If any of the wave shots seem especially good, PLEASE comment about them (see link at lower left {you may have to scroll down to it}). Be sure to choose from the drop down menu to leave your comment on the photo, as opposed to the entire gallery.
  • You may also rate photos (one to 5 stars) by using the drop down menu which becomes available after you click the "Leave Comment" button. You may rate the photo(s) whether you actually leave a comment or not.
  • The reason I am asking for your input (other than just stoking my ego), is that I have in the back of my mind putting together a book on Saipan, and I would like to have your help in deciding whether or not any of these particular photos may be good to put into the book (and if so, which ones).
  • You'll notice that, as the sun is about to set, but while the waves are still in direct sunlight, there will be shifts in the colors.

  • I think I enjoy waves considerably more than I do fireworks.

  • Toward the end of the album, you will see the "moon shot," also.

  • As the sun goes down and the light level changes, the shutter speed also must be changed to maintain proper exposure. This in turn changes the appearance of the wave motion.
