OCTOBER 31, 2013: HALLOWEEN IN THE VALLEY OF THE DRAGONS (EL TORO)

BOO! Halloween twilight with snoring dragons. Or are they bulls?
First, let's set the stage for the photos. Why do I like to call this place the "Valley of the Dragons?" Make sure that your sound is turned up as you watch this video and listen to the dragons snoring. Apparently the sound reminded someone else of bulls, or at least I assume that's where the "official" name of El Toro came from. They sound MUCH more like dragons to me. No bull!

Also, the spouts look much more like dragon breath than they do anything a bull would do.

The little cave at about 1:50 is actually a tunnel, the other end of which opens just above the water. Sounds and looks like a dragon lives in there to me! You can even see the smoke come billowing up every once in a while. You'll see the other end of this tunnel in the next video.

 • As you can see, as I approached my place to set up the tripod, there was a bit of a storm which came by. Luckily, it was small, slightly off shore, and it paralleled the shoreline instead of coming at me (although it did rain a little, as you can see if you watch the video closely).

At about 45 seconds in, you will see the seaward end of the tunnel from last video. It's interesting how the waves shoot up and slam against the roof of the tunnel to create the "dragon's smoke and breath" that you saw and heard in the previous video.

At about 1:40 the video transitions to where I took the photos. The camera is sitting on the tripod ready to go. Then, after I've taken a few shots, I pan the camera around to show some of the clouds. And you can see that the sun is about to set.
 • Now let's do what we came down here to do: Create some photo magic!
 • I took lots of photos at this and other angles. The rest weren't worth uploading. I hope you enjoyed these! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
