• Smooth moves, there guys!
 • While the rest of the gang(s) retired to their tents, Bev and I decided to sleep out under the stars.
 • Looking north, the star trails showing a few hours of our Earth's rotation. Can you find the North Star? (Hint, it's not really quite exactly still in the sky -- It does move some, but less than any of the other stars). You can also see the path of the clouds which came over every once in a while. By the way, all the light here is ambient (no flash or other light source used). Most of the light is from the commercial dock across the Lagoon on Saipan.

By the way, through the night we were treated to the awesome sound of the wedge-tailed shearwater, which nest out here this time of year. You can hear a recording of them (not from here, but this is what they sound like) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgxKzEUYKzU

You can also read more about them here: http://www.saipantribune.com/newsstory.aspx?newsID=47683
and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedge-tailed_Shearwater

Seriously, though: If we hadn't been on a tiny island known to be devoid of large harmful critters I would have been totally spooked! As it was, however, knowing that we were safe and sound, the sound was weird but calming.
