We return to the VALLEY OF DRAGONS, and traverse further south than I have been along this stretch before. T'was fun to introduce Von and Jeff to Ye Olde Dragons!

  • Rainbow in the waves. Let's go find the pot of gold (dragons are always guarding gold, right?)!
  • Hmmmm. Well, maybe if the surf wasn't so rough. I'm not sure I am a strong enough swimmer to raise a pot of gold from the ocean and safely get it to shore. So, when it comes to the gold, we'll leave it to the dragons here instead of draggin' it home.
  • Von consoles Victoria about us having to give up hope for the gold. ;-)
  • But what's this?!? Looks like Victoria is about to be eaten by a bear!
  • Yep: We ain't got Smokey, but on our hike we found Rockey the Bear! Now, I think this is one bear even I might be able to out-run.
  • On this hike we traversed further to the south than what I have ever gone in this area. Danielle and Von are sizing up a wall to see if it's worth climbing to explore the caves at the top of them.
  • As you can see, Danielle is the adventuresome one here. The rest of us took her word for it when she said that the caves did not extend back far enough to make scaling the cliff worthwhile.
  • Looking south (well, everyone but me is looking north -- and looking quite good, I might add).
  • Danielle getting the great shots on her GoPro.
  • Untitled photo
  • Time to head back north.
  • Victoria and Jeff.......with the watchful eyes of Von (Papa Gusa) in the background.
  • At the entrance of El Toro Caves.
  • Von examines some of the artifacts.
  • Who knows what mysteries lurk inside our Saipan Caves? Looks like these folks know!
  • Just a few steps beyond the caves is a nice, relaxing ledge, shielded from the sun until late afternoon. What a view!
  • For those who want to hear Ye Olde Dragon (or bull, depending on your perspective) and have a recap of our adventure: Make sure your sound is turned up, then click on the triangle. You may have to allow it to buffer a bit.
