It's another Puntan Laggua moonrise,

As the sun heads toward the horizon in the west, the light reaches the east coast of Saipan at more and more of an angle, with more and more richly-warm golden-yellow tone. I couldn't resist attempting to get some relatively back-lit waves. This particular location has a totally cool crack in the rock, from which water shoots up leading the oncoming wave, as you can see to the left of the big wave.<br />

  • Large waves strike what I call "the first cut" (because there is another "cut" on down the "trail," where we'll be soon), as the spouting horn (blow hole) shoots up.
  • The time for the direct sun rays is about gone, so now it's time to pick up the tripod, camera, and other gear to get into position for the moon rise. Here you see that "crack" I mentioned in the first photo pretty well.
  • Here we are at the "second cut." No more direct sun, but still considerable twilight.
  • Glorious moon as the sky and waves compete to put on the best show.
  • I hope you enjoyed the photos!
