A COUPLE OF COMMON ENDEMIC TREES

The smaller, numerous "fruit" to your upper right are Neisosperma oppositifolia (Chamorro name Fagot). They have 2 edible seeds which, I read, taste a bit like coconut (but I have never tried one). The larger "fruit" to your lower left is Cerbera dilatata (Chamorrro name Chiute). While I can't find any source stating that these are edible, they are apparently enjoyed by wildlife. I also can not find any references to any English names for these plants.

  • Very dry in the forest. Seems like plants are weeping to conserve water.
