The tide here usually is not as low as whenBev explored here a few days prior. She thought that she may have found some of the treasure from the Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, a Spanish Galleon which sunk in 1638 just off shore here laden with jewels, ivory, silk, spices, and gold. The "segmented pipe" you see is our lifeline. It contains a fiber optic cable which extends all the way from here to Guam. On Guam, there is transfer / routing equipment which determines where else in the world all our data will go. Nearly all our phone communication and internet gets to Saipan or from Saipan to the rest of the world through that pipe.
