FORBIDDEN ISLAND PANORAMA

We are standing 500 feet above the Pacific Ocean, looking southeast over Forbidden Island, about a half mile away. There is a trail which roughly follows the ridge to your right and descends down to the water separating Saipan from Forbidden Isand.

This is a panorama of 11 photos melded together. If you want to see details at full size, hover your cursor over the photo and wait for the little pop-up window. Click on "Original" and give it a little time. Once the full size shot is on screen, you will need to navigate using the bars at the right and bottom of your screen. If you click on the photo again, it will return you to this album page. If you look closely, you will find some imperfections on the horizon which I should have seen prior to rendering. Oh well, the following shot is a little closer image of the island.

 • When you are standing here, it is hard to believe that you are only 500 feet high, and that Forbidden Island is only about a half mile away. It seems much further. The trail down to Forbidden seems longer, too (it is somewhat longer, because it meanders a bit, but likely no more than three-quarters of a mile, with 500 feet of vertical drop).
