  • "Now let's see: Which way to the cave?"
  • "I think it must be THAT way!"
  • "And I thought I was asking for BUD light!"
  • Heading down into the sink hole which contains the caves.
  • Jeong-Ah bravely enters into the first cave, checking to see if it is safe for Brad to come in.
  • Magnificent!
  • Looking through the cache of bottles, trying to figure out if any are from the Japanese era.

  • Ready to exit the first cave.

  • When we were down there in the darkness, by the light of our flashlights this seemed to look like a mighty eagle. In the photo it seems to me to appear more like an odd pinguin-dog hybrid!
  • Jeong-Ah discovered that if she shined her light directly into some of the travertine it gave off this ghostly glow -- with different chunks giving different hues. More in the next two photos.

  • TOTALLY Cool, don't you think? I've been in these caves several times, and have never even thought about trying this!
  • And then Brad made a pretty cool find, too.
  • Drusy travertine.
  • (The word "drusy" means covered with many tiny crystals)
  • It is HUMID and warm down here. Hey y'all.......wait up!
  • Jeong-Ah had made some delectable gimbap (sort of a Korean sushi -- Brad, please correct me with a comment below if I am wrong on the name) for a picnic after the spelunking.
