  • Some speculate that the common name "noddy" may come from the bird's habit of "nodding" during courtship.
  • I didn't see any of the nodding behavior on this evening, however.
  • I guess sex just wasn't on their minds. Therefore, I guess you could say that I saw naught nodding naughty noddies on this evening.
  • Wedding Cake rock starts toward your lower right. When you see my shadow waving, it will be on the cliff of the crocodile rock (which starts out to your far right). The water you see rushing into the narrow channel to the right of my shadow is actually rushing into a channel which surrounds the crocodile rock (you can see the north end of that channel to your lower-right in the start frame).
  • More not nodding noddies.

  • My friend Marlo would call this a "butt shot," but I still think it gives a feeling of flight.

  • For some reason, this one reminds me of the old cartoon birds which would often "fly" across the screen in the old Monty Python flicks.

  • Now, HERE is what I really came up here for. I had to work the next day, so I was not willing to take any late nocturnes, but I was scouting this out to see if it may be a good place for returning to for nocturnes. These next shots show the effects of longer and longer shutter speeds as the sun set. Actually, I think this one is my favorite, but it is interesting the see how they change. This was 0.4 seconds at f22.
  • Shutter speed of 1 second (f22).
  • This video is fairly long (about 6 minutes). The camera is still (on a tripod). If you would like some Zen waves, have fun with this one. Notice also the noddies flying about.
