  • Ron and Moon stand next to their masterpiece. They won third place!
  • Nice job!

  • While I was wandering around the sand sculptures, I wondered why this one did not win anything. I learned later that this was crafted by a visiting professional (from Australia, I believe) as a demonstration.
  • Same sculpture as in the last photo. As you can see, the mermaid is holding a genie bottle with "smoke" pouring out and an inscription "Your wish is my command."
  • I was told that this one got First Place. Apparently the judges like Sponge Bob.
  • A different view of the first place castle.
  • Those of you who know me know I love the mountains. I liked how this one had a mountain, complete with spruce trees!
  • I can almost imagine someone skiing down the pathway from this little mountain bungalow.
  • I liked the train in this one. You can see Ron and Moon's is the next castle over.

  • For those of you who don't know: These magnificent beasts are part of a "Las Vegas style" magic show at the Hyatt here on Saipan.
  • Just look at those baby blues!
  • "GrrrrrrRRRRRR!"
  • "Awwe, gee. I was just kidding!"
  • The white tiger is a male, the other a female. They are not allowed to breed, but are allowed to play together some. I barely got it, but when the tiger jumps into the water pool she keeps her left paw out of the water. According to the trainer she has always done that, for no known reason. He says that she will sometimes lie down in the water (and get all paws wet), but whenever she runs through it, she always raises her left front paw. Go figure.<br />

NOTE: If you have any difficulty watching this video (or any of the videos), please leave a comment to let me know what happens. If it takes a few minutes to buffer, that can be par for the course, but if it then freezes on playback (or anything else), please let me know. Thanks!
  • The cats look quite content.
