This place is literally sea turtle watcher heaven. According to Google Earth, this point is about 125 feet elevation (which is about what it feels like there), and it is a sheer drop down just about all the way to the water.

This place is literally sea turtle watcher heaven. According to Google Earth, this point is about 125 feet elevation (which is about what it feels like there), and it is a sheer drop down just about all the way to the water.

  • The beach with Old Man by the Sea is to your right. The green-topped boulder which is partially hidden by the slope in front of us is the back of the Old Man.
  • Brad and I got there a bit early and enjoyed a few beers while waiting for the rest of the group.

  • This sink hole is also interesting and, from some angles, quite spectacular.
  • See what I mean? The relatively flat area where we were watching the turtles from is almost directly on top of these holes (but you don't notice that while you are standing over there).

  • This IS t he first hike I can remember since I was a little kid where we came to an area I could not traverse after everyone else did. It was NOT this drop, which I made it down just fine.
  • The place I could not traverse is in the scene that starts at about 2:20. It doesn't look like much in the film (especially compared to the elevator shaft at first), but my legs just would not bend in the "correct" way to allow me down. Embarrassing, but true. Brad was kind enough to stay with me and make sure I made it OK (THANKS, Brad!).
