Hey! The end of the rainbow is at the casino! Better go play the slots NOW!!!

I did put a little into the slots. Not much. Ended up loosing maybe $20 for the evening. But, as long as you stay in the casino you get all the non-alcoholic drinks you want for free. So, I made back maybe $3 or $4 on Diet Coke! It was fun, so I just chalk it up to the price for some entertainment.

 • Another silly minute and 16 seconds, this time with some great actors!

 • Just about "next door" to the Tinian Dynasty is Taga Beach. The massive latte of House of Taga were quarried here. Definitely a nice place to watch the sunset, as you can see.
 • OK, this one is a bit more lengthy, at 4 minutes and 22 seconds. Is that too long for you to now sit and watch a sunset?

The island you will see in the distance is Aguijan. It is uninhabited, at least by people. The Spanish introduced goats there, which took over and were used for meat. They are still there, and Aguijan is also called Goat Island.

Notice the refreshing look of the clear, aqua-blue water, too!

 • Now for a moonlight night (Halloween, in fact) back at House of Taga.
 • BOO!

11/13/2017 update: Obviously this and the previous photo were taken before I knew much about taking night photos. I would like to get back down there and do the place more justice sometime before I move from this Commonwealth (hopefully while the Chamorro Princess still lives within this stone).
 • The old belfry of the San Jose Catholic Church. Just behind me is a new, metal-sided church building.
 • Now, here is the NEXT attraction planned for Tinian. A Korean development company seems to be quite serious about bringing this in. It seems odd to me, since the Dynasty is struggling to stay afloat, and has had to cut way back (they have a huge fountain out front which does not run any more, for instance). Maybe there is a threshold, and once there are enough glitzy casinos the place will attract folks, sort of like an Asian-American Monte Carlo or something. I think about the big fountain at the Dynasty which they can't afford to run, and then look at this picture and see at least 24 fountains, and it looks like the same number more on the back side! Who knows? Maybe these folks know more than I do. And, I guess one can argue that the best time to invest in something like this may be when the economy is down, so that you can get the land, etc. at a bargain and then reap a windfall on the upswing. Who knows?

11/13/2017 update: This scheme has long since joined a few others in being proposed, promised, and then abandoned. Even the Tinian Dynasty has now been closed for a few years now.
 • In case you can't read the list on your computer, the NGP Complex is slated to have a 6-star casino hotel and resort, theme park, laser fountain show, peace square, lift / cable car (I understand this actually is a gondola), swimming pool, spa, heliport, convention center, business center, shopping center, community center, Chamorro folk village, amusement park (separate from the theme park mentioned earlier), hot balloon launching area, artificially created beach, horse back riding area, ice rink (yep: the Marianas' very own ICE RINK!), premium golftel resort (in ADDITION to the casino / hotel / resort!), world-class luxury villa resort, flight school, 36-hole golf course, club house, light house, and bungee jump area!

I hope that the balloon pilots are good enough to NOT get lost out over the Pacific Ocean or the Philippine Sea!

Are you ready to see if they will let you in on the investment yet?
 • Lift off from Tinian International Airport. The International part is not really active yet: About 3 or 4 years ago, the runway was lengthened to be able to accept 747's, but there has been so much local squabbling that the rest of the upgrade for international direct travel has not been done. The metal detectors and other security items have been sitting in the hallway of the terminal, wrapped in plastic, for 2 or 3 years at least.

We are looking south. You see San Antonio village and, on the horizon, Aguijan.
 • North Field. The runway to your right is Runway Able. The large concrete area adjacent to it (further to your right) is the Service Apron. See the building just to the right of the Service Apron? That's the Japanese Air Administration Building.
 • Nearly directly above Runway Able. The Service Apron is toward the top -left of the screen -- the diagonal square , or diamond shape (I'm not sure what the other large concrete area toward the lower center is, but assume maybe it was where planes were parked). You can see the Japanese Air Administration Building immediately adjacent to the Service Apron (slightly to the right of it). Continue to your right from there. After you cross the road, do you see the delta-shaped parking area? That is where the bomb pits for "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" are.
 • Final approach to SPN.
 • Just pointing out a few things. I live where I work: Marianas Eye Institute.
 • Deep blue waters, coral reef, and Coral Ocean Point. I hope you enjoyed our Odyssey!
