Lionfish (Pterois volitans).

  • This interesting small cave in the cliff is only about 10 feet deep. The 2 skylights make it awesome.
  • There was a significant amount of surge this day, which made staying stationary for some of these shallow shots a bit of a challenge.
  • Wonder what Rose is bringing?
  • Oh, a cool nudibranch! Thuridilla carlsoni, I think.
  • This gives a better idea the size of the nudibranch (or, for anyone who is a nudie expert, the size of Rose's hand). I'm not sure how you find all this stuff, Rose!

  • Lionfish (Pterois volitans).
  • Foreground is same lionfish as in the last shot. In the background is a Spotfin lionfish (Pterois antennata).

  • This little Periclimenes shrimp (Periclimenes soror) basically sees the surface of this cushion star as his entire world.
  • Another Periclimenes shrimp.
  • And here is the STAR of our dive!
