  • Fun at Kaanapali. I had a sore throat, so I decided to stay out of the water and be the "official" photographer / videographer.

  • Now we are at the Iao Needle (that's a capital I on Iao, not an "L"). This is a sacred sight which was considered a phallic symbol by the ancients. It was also the scene of one of the most decisive battles for control of Hawaii, where King Kamehameha defeated the armies of Maui.

  • 17-photo panorama entailing at least 180-degrees. To your right you are looking down Iao Valley. To your left you are looking up the same valley. At 1,200 feet tall, Iao Needle is to obvious protuberance between the red pavilion and the hill with the top extending beyond the top of the photo.
