  • O'Hair Airport as we lift off en route to Buffalo, NY.
  • Dance of golden light of the setting sun on clouds, then flying into the full-moon-night between Chicago and Buffalo.<br /> <br /> Music by Kevin MacLeod of <a href="http://incompetech.com/">http://incompetech.com/</a>
  • Somewhere between Chicago and Buffalo. A bit like being lost between the moon and New York City (I know it's crazy, but it's true).
  • Night time looking toward Ontario, Canada over American Falls. The lighting changes constantly until midnight. 10-second exposure.
  • Same place as the previous photo.
  • Looking over Horseshoe Falls from Ontario, Canada. Midnight has come and gone by now, so the light show is over. A 25-second exposure still brings out the falls in the night quite nicely, however.
  • Different view over Horseshoe Falls. The land on the other side is Goat Island, which we will be on in the next album. It is part of the U.S.A. The bright spots toward the right-hand extent shining through the falls are from lights inside tunnels under the Falls. You will see what they look like from the inside in a video toward the end of this album.
  • Very nice restaurant overlooking the Falls (inside Table Rock Welcome Center). Food was excellent, and you can't beat this view!
  • Niagra Falls has the highest flow rate of any water fall in the world, with about 4 million cubic feet per minute average and peaks as high as 6 million cubic feet per minute.
  • 7-photo panorama. The Canadian (Table Rock) visitor center (where the previously-photographed restaurant is located) to your right, then (from right to left), Horseshoe Falls, Goat Island, Bridal Veil Falls (looks quite small in this photo, but you'll see lots of water gushing over it in the next album), and American Falls.
  • Standing next to the most powerful waterfall (given the flow rate and vertical drop) in North America.
  • While Niagra Falls are really not all that tall compared with many other falls, the sheer mass of the complex is truly awesome.
  • The Canadians dug a tunnel behind Horseshoe Falls. Here is a closed-off part of the tunnel showing the original construction.

  • Start out next to the waterfall, then into the tunnel. Notice all the mist rising behind the Falls in the first segment. Toward the end, as you look out of the portal, it will appear that the water is falling upward -- likely because what you are actually seeing is this mist (give it some time -- I had to adjust the exposure downward considerably to get any of the water movement to show up on video).

  • One last look after we exited the tunnel.
  • And then a final gaze over Horseshoe Falls before we head back to the U.S. of A.
