Just had long enough in Waikiki to walk from my room about a half block to this outdoor shrimp stand for dinner before catching a night's rest. Fresh spicy garlic shrimp was mighty tasty.<br />

  • Lifting off from Honolulu International Airport en route to Kona.
  • Final approach to Kona.
  • From our patio at the Hilton Waikoloa. This resort covers 62 acres. The building which looks like it's a separate hotel across the water is part of the same (Hilton Waikoloa) complex. We had a great place from which to watch the sunset.
  • While it was washed out a bit by last summer's typhoon, there is a trail along the beach from the Hilton to the Marriott resorts.

  • Just a 10 minute walk from our patio door was another great place from which to watch the sunset.
  • The building we were in is the one you see toward your left. I have no idea who Byron is, by the way.
  • Bev built some towers while I took sunset photos.
  • Cats and mongoose are numerous at this resort.

  • Even though our patio had a great sunset view, we usually came out to these comfy "lawn chairs" to watch it. This photo is a several panel panorama, starting looking straight up and ending looking to the west.
  • This was taken the night after the previous few photos. Same place where the Byron name was, but I took my tripod back and got some long exposure shots. I like how the sun looks split by the clouds.
  • The Hilton has it's very own train to take us to other parts of the resort. It also has a canal with boats to do the same thing.
  • Hawi, Hawaii: The northern part of Big Island. Nice place for a sandwich.
  • Hiking down to Pololu Valley Beach, northwest coast of Big Island.

  • Steep but heavily-traveled trail.
  • Looking south.
