THE HOUSE THAT WAS HOME

I think I was in 3rd or 4th grade when we moved into this newly-built house. Our earlier house was a single-story home on this same lot. My parents had it moved and contracted to have this one built. Before this year's trip, I think the last time I was there must have been 2005, I believe. Considering that this place must be about 50 years old now, I would say that it looks quite nice and well-maintained.

Anyhow, we called it the "Farm," but it really was a ranch. Grandad, and then Dad ran cattle (and they did farm a little patch, to grow hay to feed the cattle).
I was born in Oklahoma City, but have absolutely no memory of living there. When I was very small, we moved back to Laverne and Dad took over the stuff needed to keep the farm running. We moved into the TOWN, though (the very lot where the house in the first photo now sits), and would drive out to the farm regularly.
 • WHAT LIES THROUGH YONDER DOOR?
 • No one has lived out here for many a year now. Years ago, Dad started leasing the land to some excellent neighbors, who run their own cattle and maintain the farm (they had no reason to maintain the house).
From the ornaments on the upper portion of the wall to your right, I guess the swallows are finding it to be dandy living quarters.
