BIG BUS
On our arrival day (the day before this photo was taken), we headed to the Star Ferry Terminal to cross over to Hong Kong. There were people hustling tourists to sell them passes for these "Big Buses." One of the "hustlers" was the fellow you see in red. Bev and I both usually ignore such attempted selling, and we each, to this day, believe that the other was the one who stopped to listen to the sales pitch. Whether it was Bev or me, I'm glad we did stop. The ticket, while not cheap, allows one to ride on this bus for a great tour of Kowloon, and then to take two different (overlapping) bus tours in Hong Kong proper. We had 3 days to use our tickets, and on the Hong Kong buses we were able to board and depart the bus as many times as we wanted at any of the regular stops, where they arrive every 30 minutes. On boarding, we were given some earphones which allowed us to listen to stories about the history and culture of the different neighborhoods and business districts we rode through. I can't remember what it cost right now, but Bev and I both felt that it was well worth it.

on February 26, 2018And I thought I was the one who never would have gone for it. At any rate, I'm glad we did!

on February 26, 2018It was around $78 USD per person and well worth it for what we learned and the ease of getting around and figuring out the system. (the HK$600 he quoted was pretty scarey). I never would've gone for it, but it sure looked like Mark was interestest. I love how the power of intuition rules over common sense logic sometimes.
