LUNA MANSION, LAS LUNAS, NEW MEXICO
Steeped in history, the Luna Mansion (also apparently called the Luna Otero Mansion) was constructed in 1881 by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway as a gift to Don Antonio Jose Luna and Isabella Baca in appreciation for the right of way through the family's huge estate. According to a brochure available at the mansion, the constitution of the state of New Mexico was "essentially drafted in this Mansion." The brochure also refers to "presences and other inexplicable occurrences" thought to indicate continued habitation by spirits of previous living occupants.
