VLBA RADIO TELESCOPE, Brewster, WA
That dish you see is 82 feet (25 meters) across and weighs 240 tons. This radio telescope is one of ten scattered across the United States which make up the Very Long Baseline Array. They coordinate together to give celestial resolutions far greater than any one unit would be capable of. Scientists are also able to use the coordinated data to study shifts in the earth's crust and rotation.
