ACID BALL
What does a town do when their industrial base dries up? In the case of Bellingham, take one of the more unique parts of it (in this case, part of a paper-making plant), move it about 1,000 feet to a more visible, accessible, and (likely) cleaner area, and build a park around it complete with sidewalk.
This 400,000 pound ball was a part of a Georgia-Pacific paper-production plant opened here in 1938. The plant closed in 2007.
