The little public utilities park behind Gorge Powerhouse along North Cascade Highway is always a welcome place to stop and wander around (and the restroom inside the Visitor's Center of their powerhouse is always well-maintained and clean, also).

• Ladder Creek Falls. It twists and turns in a narrow, tortuous chasm such that it is impossible to really get a photo which shows much of it.
• 15-photo panorama of Ladder Creek (below the Falls) from the bridge.
• Bev finds a way to cool off a bit.
• Gorge powerhouse and gorgeous flowers.

• Here we are north of Concrete, up near Mount Baker National Recreation Area (south of Mount Baker). It was getting late, so I didn't get any other photos of this particular area. Bri is standing on a turbine which undoubtedly at one time harnessed power from the Baker River to produce electricity.
• Into the next day now. Nooksack Falls, as we approach Mount Baker from the north. This 30-foot wide fall plunges 88 feet.

• Nooksack Falls is probably the most easily accessible waterfall around Mount Baker. And spectacular. You can see Nooksack Falls in a clip from the 1978 movie THE DEER HUNTER (along with a very young Robert De Niro) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur94GUaOjL8
(Warning: Included in the above clip of THE DEER HUNTER is a scene where a deer is felled by a hunter. If you don't like such scenes, just go on to the next photo herein).

• For those of you who don't know, one of my trademarks (quirks, I'm sure, is a more accurate word) is to photograph photographers. Looks like Bev and Bri are getting their masterpieces.
• Yum! Wild red huckleberries! One of my favorites!
• Hey, Bev: If you can stop texting for a bit, Bri has a nice, tasty salmonberry for you!
• Photographing Mount Shuksan.
• Looking north, up toward Canada. In fact, some of those mountains may be in Canada.

• Mount Shuksan from Picture Lake. Gee, I wonder how the lake got that name? ;-)
