  • Photographing Zac.
  • Zac below the bridge.
  • Looking down at Zac as he dips his head into the Wallace River.
  • Zac on stump.
  • Lower Wallace Falls. The falls and park are actually named after Joe and Sarah Kwayaylsh, members of the Skykomish tribe who were the first to homestead in this area. Apparently the english speakers who came later had difficulty pronouncing "Kwayaylsh," so they corrupted the name to "Wallace." Oh well: Maybe better to have something named after you incorrectly than not named after you at all!
  • Lower Wallace Falls.
  • Zac's hand next to Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora).
  • Indian pipe is a flowering plant with no chlorophyl. It grows in dense shade where lots of organic matter is available and uses the organic debris for food. Because of its need for rich organic matter, it is also sometimes called Corpse plant.
  • Zac collected some fungi for use in making "tea." You can tell us more about it in the comments if you would like, Zac.
  • On down the trail....
