  • I wonder how much sulfur is in that rain! Easy to see why Pele is considered the goddess of volcanoes AND lightening. (She is also the goddess of fire and dance)
  • Near Ka Lae (Hawaiian for "the point"), the southernmost point in the 50 United States (but not as far south as where I live). This area is also called South Point, and it is a National Historic Landmark District. Off-shore ocean currents bring in a bounty of fish, so this has historically been an important fishery.
  • Looking north. The white poles you see in the background are part of a defunct wind farm.
  • Considerably further north, we come to Ho'Okena.
  • I got started taking photos and videos here at Ho'Okena and almost made us late for picking up Mom and Dad at the airport!
  • Butterfly on Hawaiian Noni.
