Back on the San Diego Waterfront. The largest kaleidescope I have ever seen.

kaleidascope

  • Back on the San Diego Waterfront. The largest kaleidescope I have ever seen.
  • Nice view inside it, too.

  • A bit more waterfront art.
  • Launched in 1863, the STAR OF INDIA is the oldest iron-hulled merchant ship afloat. She has circumnavigated the globe 21 times, and has been used in such varied practices as hauling cargo to and from India, carrying passengers from England to New Zealand, and delivering fish from Alaska to the California. She first sailed 5 days prior to Abe Lincoln's Gettysburg address, and she still sails the ocean every November.
  • She is now part of the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

Seriously, this does make a nice, attractive, useful, and unique conversation piece. And, if you are needing to think about something to get for someone, it is highly likely that this is something he or she does not already have. AND, it's a way to encourage recycling with class.

  • Now, please join us for a ferry ride across the bay to Coronado Island!
  • All aboard!
  • U.S.S. Midway.

  • Looking back at San Diego as we approach Coronado. This is actually a vertical panorama. I you would like to see detail, click on the photo, and then click on the "O" which appears at the top center of your screen. DO NOT CLICK ON THE ENLARGED PHOTO UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO RETURN TO THIS SCREEN. You will have a scroll bar to your right and at the bottom of your screen. These will be necessary, because the full-size photo will take up several of your screens. When you are ready to return here, just click on the full-size photo and it will clear.

  • Looking toward the Naval Yard on Coronado Island.
  • In case you have ever wondered where an eye doctor's wife would buy her sunglasses.

  • The San Diego Sandman rides his bike (his is the one furthest to your right) to places, spreads sand, and spreads it out with his broom to create temporary art. You can hear his story in the next video.
