Bozeman, Montana. The Garage Soup Shack and Mesquite Grill. Pretty tasty dinner. It was funny, though: Most seating is outside. They have a cover (as you can see), but it does not stop rain (I guess it's for cutting down on the heat of the sun). Seemed like when it started raining, not only many of the customers, but also most of the staff, just disappeared. We decided to go ahead and eat in the rain (which kept coming and going, really). Service left a lot to be desired, but it was a fun meal. You can see part of the double rainbow, which would form between showers, in the background .

Location is pinpointed in the Map This function above. Call (406) 585-8558 for more, if you happen to be in Bozeman. You can also find them at https://www.facebook.com/TheGarageSoupShack

• Silver Mountain Gondola in Kellogg, Idaho. The Silver Mountain folks claim that this is the longest gondola ride in the world, at 3.1 miles. The trip takes 18 minutes (in this video condensed to 3 1/2). Elevation here in Kellogg is 2,300 feet, and at the top is 5,700 feet. Capacity is 1,600 people per hour. The day we were there, however, most of the gondolas were empty.

For those who ski here in the winter, there are 5 chairlifts accessible from the top of this gondola, which ascend on up to 6,297 feet. There are 67 named ski trails and an average of 300 inches of snow per year.
• After the nice ride, you are treated to a beautiful mountain vista from the top.
• In the summer time, all the chairlifts are stationary, giving nice places to sit and relax.
• Hang in there Zac! He wanted a dramatic shot. This was the best I could do without a lot of Photoshoping. I did Photoshop out a bit in the lower left. That's why, if you look fairly closely, the trees in that corner look a bit funky. OK: You don't have to look all THAT closely.
• Here, he is hanging from the same chair in s shot with no fancy Photoshopping.
• This one has some truly heroic (for me) Photoshopping done. Took me a while (my Photoshop skills for this kind of thing are quite limited). And, if I were to do it over again, I think I could make it much more dramatic (by raising him in the frame considerably). You can see the non-Photoshopped version in the next photo.
• Same as the last shot, but with the "real" background. By the way, the background in the previous shot comes from the right half of the photo immediately previous to it.

• Time for the 18 minutes down (again, condensed for you to 3 1/2 minutes).
• Lake Pend Oreille in Sand Point, Idaho. At 1,150 feet deep, this is the fifth-deepest lake in the United States. Surface area is 148 square miles. The large size and incredible depth makes this an excellent place for the United States Navy to test large-scale submarine prototypes.
• Fun on the water (and in the swing). Any time you hear the two beeps in this video, that's Bev's camera as she takes a photo.

• Meandering Moose Motel. VERY affordable and nice rooms. If you are not looking for a high-class resort type of place to spend the night, I highly recommend this place. Call 208-263-5323 for reservations, or see their web site at http://www.meanderingmoosemotel.com/

While they are not right on the water front, it is only a nice stroll to the lake.
• City Beach (still in Sand Point).
• Breakfast at Trinity at City Beach. Another winner. Nice food and great view out over the lake.
• And then, on to Spokane!
• I like communities where they have fountains to play in, not just to look at.
• Zac as Thomas from SMOKE SIGNALS. I think Thomas, as a young boy, meets with Victor's father on this bridge in the movie. The NEXT photo shows the bridge at the end of that excellent movie (and the caption has a link to that final scene, which includes the bridge).
